For those who participated in my thread, "Inexpensive first resonator (even an ugly one)," you probably noticed that Phil Dean offered to set me up with a demo that was "just taking up space." Well, to make a long story short, he and I came to an agreement (with me, by FAR, getting the better end of the deal) and I'm now in possession of a slightly-used Mastereso guitar that you won't believe.
The guitar came a week and a half ago, and every time I open the case and take it out, I'm more impressed. It's got a solid myrtle top and back, with koa binding and pearl inlay. It's got a Beard cone and it's LOUD. Phil described the tone as "lonesome," and that about covers it. The photo should speak for itself as to the beauty of the thing. Anyway, Phil went above and beyond what I could have expected, and I just wanted the Reso Hangout community to know that thanks to this forum, Phil's uncommon courtesy, and the kindness of an anonymous stranger, I now have my resonator. It just turned out not to be an ugly one!

Phil, I remember the earlier thread, and I just want to say that I applaud you. I've also turned green seeing those pics, so hopefully sometime before I die, I'll have a reso from you too. Nice work on that "demo."

Wow, what a beautiful instrument. I'm sure you'll get years of pleasure from it. Congrats to you, and major props to Phil.

I'm so jealous, his other resos cost like 2 grand and you got one for less than 500 bucks. I would do terrible things to have that guitar. You are a lucky son of a gun. You owe Mr.Dean a big ole kiss
Dobro playin'' mofo.
