I have a Gibson coverplate that has something very faint in the nickel plating that won't polish out. Any idea who can replate it for me?

..but get it chromed...the nickle will tarnish to black again pretty quick, I had a Gibson Bass in the 60's that I couldn't keep the hand rest from turning black-ish. I believe I put three different ones on it...just kept replacing them.

I have heard that the plating that Beard uses now is similiar to the Delta faucet stuff that comes with a lifetime guarantee against scratches, dings, wear marks, and unexpected pregnancies. I don't know if they will plate other stuff but just maybe. Howard, any ideas here?

Thanks guys, but I don't want it chromed. To me that would be like painting a Cadillac with a roller LOL

In the catalog from Resophonic Outfitters (Paul Beard Co.) there is an accessories section of coverplates, tailpieces, soundscreens in brass, or gold, or chrome.you will also see same preceded by the word Resolution on many of the items. So on a chrome item at the lesser price paul is re-selling the product of an outside supplier or of his own manufacture.Typically it follows the descripttion of triple chrome plated which would be brass, plated with nickel, plated with a top coat of chrome (unless the description says nickel only). The other choices at the higher price level are the "special coating/wears forever" product you were describing. So not ALL Beard hardware is that type of plating. He sells BOTH types and (if it's what you want) you identify that special coating option by the higher price and prefix description "RESOLUTION".
