Hey, folks
I'm new to resonator guitars and have recently received a Dobro Hound Dog (Round Neck), which I like very much. I'm looking for some advice on strings (I'm using Ernie Ball Slinky customs (.11 - .56), set up and pick-up options.
Hopefully you guys don't mind giving advice, and I thank you for your time.

I would suggest using heavier, phosphor bronze strings, maybe flat wounds if you use a slide. 56-13 would be good.
Dobro playin'' mofo.

IF you have that roundneck set up for slide you would be wise to use smaller gauge strings than the ones for a squareneck. The pressure on the roundneck might warp the neck. I have a roundneck set up for slide and have not had a problem with the smaller strings. Just my $.02 worth.

I play a roundneck and squareneck and use heavy stuff for both of them. I flatpick my roundneck (gives a great finger workout) and don't use a slide . I would think if you don't have all of your fingers dedicated to mashing the strings, you may want to go a little lighter. My favorites are Beard Special 79s and D'Addario EJ 42s for the tone.
Don''t squat with your spurs on.
