I see it is a squareneck with a spiderbridge. What is the deal with the large hole at the base of the fretboard? What is the body size?

It is a large "E" shaped body. The oval hole is both a design element and gives the guitar a unique tonal characteristic. The guitar shown is spruce/walnut and is voiced "between" an MA6 and JDS.
We are building a maple now.

Saw it at Cabin Fever. Didn't really hear it's sound though since I was listening to another gorgeous guitar you had on display there.

You need to post some mp3s of this with a couple of others to compar it to.

The more I learn about playing this crazy thing the more I realize how very little I know about it...

I dig it. Looks like a "Cyclops". Can't wait to hear it.

Some say it's ugly but I'm just glad Beard is trying to come up with something unique as opposed to recycling the same designs that have been used my many for a looong time. Kudos for originality, i'm sure it sounds excellent, after all it's a beard,

Return to 1931. Odyssey= Cyclops. But that's OK. 1931 was a long time ago and there is a whole new generation out there that has never seen a 1931 Dobro Cyclops either. History says 'One can get used to anything"..With the deeper body and E shape profile, I am sure it must have a unique tone quite different from the Cyclops.
axeslingincowboy - Posted - 04/02/2009: 07:45:56
Well I've seen the cyclops, but it has a screened hole the same size as a standard dobro. This odyssey seems to have a larger guitar inspired soundhole.

as they say you can't judge a book by its cover for those who don't like the look. I think different is good at least thats what they kept telling me through school. I would love to hear and play it.
