Looking for some advice on what pickup to have installed in my Deneve D body and James D body resos. I do not want the new Aura system -- at least not yet.
I have a Schertler basik reso in one of my other resos and a Fishman Rare Earth in a Beard R Mahogany that was installed by Beard.
Does anyone out there have a better idea than the two that I have?
All suggestions appreciated:)

Hi John.
I fave a Gibson Jerry Douglas signature model, that came with a Fishman installed. The first thing I did was to replase it with a Schertler. I've never regretted the change.
If this is of any help, I now also have i Beard Jerry Douglas Limited Edition reso - complete with the Aura. Never had or heard a better combination for resonator. (I heard Jerry Douglas in Glascow two months ago - and I suppose no one can get more out of a resonator than he does. He really blew me away both misically and soundwise. Loud and clear, withn no feedback.)
Regards
Bjørn

The new Fishman that JD is using looks really interesting. You may want to check it out, even if it's not your cup of tea.

I have the fishman nashville and DON'T have the aura pedal. I play it through a baggs para acoustic DI and it sounds pretty good. But I'l definitely buying the aura pedal when i get the funds as it makes it sound ten times better.
Dobro playin'' mofo.

Google Beard Guitars or Mike Auldridge and check out the demo on the new Fishman with imaging pedal. It does not work like other pick ups. The pick up is built in the tusq saddles and with the imaging pedal you can have true acoustic sound with a choice of high end microphone voices. Once you have seen this demo, you won't want any other pick up.

couple questions about that aura pedal: can you use it with a mic? i've got one of those gooseneck condenser mics that velcros onto the side of the instrument and hooks onto the coverplate and the neck is flexible. it is also VERY quiet so next question: does the aura also act as a preamp and boost the signal? last thing: the mic feeds back incredibly easily. does the aura help to control feedback or is it more desirable to have an actual pickup installed? or would it just be better to run a sure-57 thru the pedal into the board? i'm mostly concerned about achieving good volume while not compromising tone when playing with an electric band. what is it with drummers anyway?
