I just purchased a 1930 National Style O, which needs a neck reset and setup work. Who is a good National repairman ? I heard Marc Schoenberger is a good address to go to. Any comments on him or any other suggestions?
Thanks

Call national. Those guys are great at what they do. Jason is a phenomenal restorer, and he knows all the history, he'll make your guitar right on.

Matt, Thanks for your suggestion. Do you have any experience on the turn around time?

Len at Vintage Nationals is the other person I'd recommend.

Brad, thanks for your recommendation. I spoke to Lenny a while ago and he is using Schoenberger and National for restorations. Looks like both are fine to use. I will call both and see what's the prices and turnaround time.

I haven't had any work done by national. I'm actually a luthier in the LA area and had the opportunity to go to national and train with them on working on resonators. The work they do is first class, and the knowledge they have is pretty much unmatched. Both Jason and Mark are phenomenal luthiers and I can't say enough good things about them. Good luck with your restoration.

YMMV

Thanks for all the valuable inputs. My 1930 Style O is in near mint condition, but needs a reset and the cone is riding a little low. The cone is not crushed but through the years the cone went down. I spoke to a few guys including some vintage dealers and they told me Marc Schoenberger is really tops when it comes to re-shaping the cones and his setups are also perfect. Marc used to work at National and we spoke for quiet some time. I will go and visit him and drop-off my guitar.

Here is an update;
I got the guitar back from Marc Schoenberger and he for sure was the right guy to go to. It is day and night after his setup/ neck reset. The original cone was riding a little low and he brought it back to normal height. Soundwise it's way better than I expected. If any of my Nationals needs work, I will send 'em to Marc.
