It's me again - upon further inspection of the Glaveston I've noticed that the bridge is out of alignment and the set screw is not accessable for adjustment - Does this mean I need to remove the bridge and re-align it? Any help is appreciated - Dennis Brooker

Slideman suggests: The wooden bridges sit in a slot in the spider casting. They are supposed to be of a width that causes them to fit tightly ( a pressed fitting) and not slide from left to right nor obscure the adjustment screw hole. IF your mis-alignment is caused by a loose bridge this is adjustable without even removing the cover plate. Loosen the strings over whichever bridge is mis-aligned. Using a scewdriver go under the cover plate hand strap and slide the bridge left or right into "aligned" position and re-expose the adjusting screw hole. If it persists or returns to a mis-aligned position, then do the repair the proper way--removing the strings and coverplate, and taking the loose fitting bridge out of it's slot, putting a piece of masking tape on the lower side(s) of the bridge, and returning the "thickened" bridge to it's slot. It is likely to wedge in better with a tighter fit and not slide into to mis-alignment again. The 2 bridges are supposed to be a TIGHT fit in the metal slot of the spider.

Upon further inspection - even if one of the bridges was moved the adjustment screw would still not be aligned with the hole in the cover plate and I can see that the spider is not setting equally spaced on the cone - I'm gonna guess it's time I took my first cover plate off - Am I guessing right? Anyone feel free to let me know for sure - Thanks - DB

Here's an article about setting up a spider bridge resonator that may be helpful.
