So...as of this date (4-7-2015) I have dialed in the Fishman JD Aura pedal to my satisfaction and eliminated all other special sound effects that I have used for over 45 years. The only exception is the Roland SE-70 effects unit which is now placed after the Aura pedal is in place. This effects unit contains more than 250 effects and I can see that no longer will I need the other 'stomp boxes' that I have accumulated all this time. The Fishman works on all the resos I have even though the pick-ups are Lace Ultra Slim style. Two resos ( 1982 10 string and the 2012 TTT have them).

The settings I use are : image at 8..11..12...14...the volume at 80%..the trim at 10/6..the blend at 70%...and the phase to the right. The board or the amp should be set up before to be dialed in correctly and the pedal foot switch.on OFF !

Using the two resos I have the Lace pick-ups on...some of the settings on the Aura pedal may have to be adjusted. I have had this pedal for three years now and have had no problems with it. It is advertised that it only works well with the Fishman Nashville pick-up. I will disagree. My Lace Ultra Slim pick-ups work just fine when the board or amp is set up properly. Then in conjunction with the Aura pedal along with some reverb my sound on either reso will come out spectacular !

I may add..my other two resos are not amplified and they go directly into the board with appropriate settings on treble, mids, and bass ...using in most cases a Shure SM-81 directional mic or a Shure SM-57 mic.

To be clear..strings have a lot to do with the sound along with your slides and picks. I usually recommend for maple or mahogany resos D'Addario EJ-42 strings if you use a standard set (16/56). My custom gauge that works for me is described in other blogs I have posted on my home page here at Reso Hangout.
