So, I decided to jump into owning a resonator guitar. I'm a huge fan of Keb Mo and own most of his records. I don't play any of his songs though but I'd like to learn some. I truly love the sound of a resonator guitar. I've been playing guitar for over 20 years so I know my way around a guitar but this resonator stuff is a whole different ball game for me.
I picked up a mint Dobro Hound Dog Deluxe Round Neck. I'm sure there are many better guitars out there but this is what I've got to work with. It's in standard tuning as of right now. Here are my first couple of questions:
I ordered a standard set of Martin Resonator Strings for this, medium gauge. Are these the right strings for this guitar or should I use regular acoustic strings?
Also, should this be tuned to standard or is there a more acceptable tuning platform to use. I don't know how to play slide so I'm totally clueless here.
