Well I shouldn't post this without pictures.. A couple pics in my feed..

Holy smokes. What a wonderful axe this is! Bob Sands talks about growly and 'stringy' sounding. Spot on. It feels like some crazy special hands were on this thing. It is all mahogany and has his (lately?) trademark coin fret markers (these are pesos or something from Belize). I tuned it down to C and then went even further down to B. Also I've found a homemade 'modal' tuning where I tune the high string down a 1/2 step and get (maybe?) - a sort of major seventh heaven. And of course it sounds great through a sound hole pickup (this time, a BAGGS M1A)

I was so smitten, I called Larry to ask him to pack up the regular scale weiss he was building for me... but he told me that that one and one other he had suddenly been snatched up the last few days! Did someone in here beat me to it? (grins)

My only complaint? Larry doesn't have or didn't put a label in the instrument. I may have to work some up in my print shop for him.

	mstuartev says: 8/11/2015 9:47:40 AM After a mesmerizing honeymoon with the Pogreba baritone, I got weak and called Larry, asking about availability of a standard scale 'weissenheimer.' There is something weird and eclectic and elegantly toneful about his work. In his folksy way, he said, "yeah, I could work one up in a month or so." And so last week I became the owner of a second Pogreba weissenborn style with the crazy anvil label inside (he sent me one for the bari). Yikes! He's done it again. All mahogany with other groovy touches (like an ebony fretboard, scavenged from an old wood sculpture!) The standard has a quicker attack, singing tone and good sustain - better for note melody and runs. A blast to play and adorned with all the goofy eccentric stuff that he chooses to adorn them with ( like strange worn out coins from other countries for fret markers). I promise to upload photos and eventually some rustic recordings when I can. They ain't just weissenborn guitars; they are tone pieces of folk art!

Tried a bunch of finger picks and (Acri Brass and Brass, flat blade Perfect Touch finger picks). Offering them + a Dunlop 918 bullet tone bar. Or would be interested in a trade for, say a Scheerhorn style grooved tone bar, etc. Tanks! ME
