For a while now I have been using D'addario EJ 24 true mediums on my Tim Kill custom Blackwood Weiss as they seemed to give a better balanced tension across the strings than EJ 17's.
I recently decided to try GHS LJ40 True mediums. These are Laurence Jubers signature strings that are Cryogenically treated (!)
They are nearly twice the price (in the UK anyway) but I have to say they are fantastic. They have a 'sweeter' sound especially the top 2 strings which are a nice bronze colour which hasn't worn off and are silky smooth under the slide. I've had the same set on for nearly 2 months now and they still sound really good with no tuning problems. I usually change my strings about once a month so perhaps they will work out cheaper!
I'm definitely impressed.
