Has anyone installed a K&K Pure Mini pickup in their Weissenborn? If so, how does it sound? I've got an LR Baggs M1 installed in mine, and it sounds great. However, the pickup does detract from the looks of the guitar. I've read a lot of good things about the K&K in regular acoustics, but haven't heard much about them in Weissenborns..

x says: 4/6/2011 9:30:40 AM Hello- I tried a soundboard-style pickup (a B-Band) on my Gold Tone Wesissenborn and was not happy with it- too bright and thin for me. Same pickup in a twelve string worked fine. I ended up going with the magnetic pickup in the Gold Tone, even though it's not as attractive. I've have used a K&K on a Maccaferri style guitar, and it worked okay. A little thin & bright for my tastes. Try it and let us know how it works out! tc
	Grizz says: 4/6/2011 11:41:49 AM OK I may have the perfect solution. When I was looking around for a different Wessie, a friend of mine found one at Elderlys. It was a Breedlove. It had a M-1a pickup up but the cover matched the body of the guitar. When I got my Bear Creek I had a M-1 installed. I called Breedlove and found out they were made by one of their luthiers, Jayson Bowerman. They checked and said they couldn't make one for me but Jayson had left and went out on his own. I contacted Jayson and asked if he could make me one and he agreed. I sent him a photo of my Wessie and he made me a cover. Now it took some time but it looks very good. It is the photo of the Wessie for the group. That photo was taken by the seller prior to purchase that is why you don't see the PU. I haven't updated my lousy instrument photos yet but will do so soon. I will take a photo of mine and let you know when I do. I love the M-1. I run it through a Baggs Venue DI and holy crap. I had the K&K in a Lazy River and it wasn't even close. Mike
	guitarslinger4 says: 4/6/2011 1:51:07 PM I have a Dean Markley Trilogy in my GoldTone SM and it sounds great. However has anyone noticed that the Pickups detract from the resonance of their Wessie when played acoustically? Sort of a deadening of the soundboard effect.
	weiner71 says: 7/19/2011 8:14:49 AM sorry to hack an older thread but I have a K&K Pure Mini in my weissenborn (in stereo with a Sunrise) and I really like the K&K it is a is a woody sound, but not excessive. A pre-amp is needed when using a K&K. I use the outboard blender from K&K and it works perfectly. Still get the natural amplified sound. I will admit, it was a pain in the butt to get the thing installed. After I gave up on it, I had to take it to three different Luthiers in the area until i found one that thought they could install it.
