Thomas Oliver "The Moment"

From jmb3450 on 5/17/2011 7:09:40 AM

Check out this video of Thomas Oliver playing "The Moment" on a Tony Francis instrument.

What a wonderful guitar, great player, and a beautiful song, I've got to try and learn it, it's on my "to do" list.  I love the harmonics and how he tunes the first string down then back up during the song, amazing.   My banjo has Kieth tuners on it in order to accomplish this, I wonder if he's got something like that.  If not and he's doing that with a standard tuner it's even more amazing.  Anyway, enjoy.

Beautiful recording............and, of course, a beautiful instrument. Leave it to Tony to build the best!

This guy is "off the hook" A beautiful song, outstanding musicianship, to say the least and a sweet sounding Wessie. He is tied for first place in Wessie players IMO.

I just hope I can learn to play well the tune "Twinkle-twinkle Little Star" someday!

I'm sure you do much better than that. I want to play "Homage" before the last dance.

The "last dance" can come way too soon! Don't dilly-dally!

I know. I have the place to get the tab bookmarked. I haven't purchase it yet because I know I'm not ready, but maybe I should and work on it the best I can. It was this song that enamored me with the sound of the Wessie.

I've been playing the weiss more than anything else lately, still working on "Nothing But The Blood" using Rob Anderik's version as inspiration. It just doesn't sound as good when I play it!
I did get Troy's song worked up, I think it's called "After The Floods" or somethink like that. I'll bet that would sound good on the weiss too, never tried tuning it to G though, I guess it would hold the increased tension ok. Here's a link to the Rye Whiskey video:

Mike, there's some vidoes on youtube of Ed Gerhard playing at the Breedlove booth last year, some have pretty good camera angles to see what he's doing....I'm guessing you might already know of the ones I'm talking about. Homage is one of them, although on at least one video the audio is out of sync w/ the video so that's not good from a learning standpoint. There's a video of Rye Whiskey done from a great angle to see what he's playing and I think with some effort is probably learnable from the video. That's also on my "to do" list.

I guess I got my content mixed up on that last post, sorry. The Rye Whisky link was intended to be at the end. Oh well,
