Thanks Mike! Appreciate the welcome...
But first, some rules.
1. Don't yell at me if I lick your avatars 2. Don't ask me how to play this damn thing 3. Don't ask me to confess where I bought my Weissenborn 4. Don't force me into confessing about wondering my the action was so high 5. Don't ask me why my left hand thumb is so sore, (see point #4) 6. Don't take any of the above too seriously!
Oh yes - and most importantly - check out Jeff Lang.
Thanks for having me!
:) Q.

Welcome, Qwerty. Good bunch of folks here...........helpful, fun and honest to a fault. Glad to have you...........you sound as if you'll fit in just fine. Beautiful guitar. Tell us something about it. (we don't have to know where it came from!)

Chris, you wouldn't be referring to the 'ole Griz being honest to a fault would you now? I'm going to guess on the Wessie. Me thinks it might be a Richard Wilson Blackwood. hmmmmm Tony, the Gold Tones at Elderly's are set up in the Beard shop. Which according to most, is a better set up. They are a Beard dealer. But remember same price you can buy direct from Beard and the kicker is, if you keep it in good shape and you decide to upgrade to a Beard they will give you what you paid for it towards the Beard model of your choice. Food for thought.

Ha-ha! Thanks for the welcome guys.
@ Tony - nice to see a local around here. Sweating on a reply from Elderly as I type :) But yeah - there is next to nothing here. Think I counted 3 square necks in the the Sydney metropolitan area after an hour of ringing around on Saturday morning. Of those, one was a plywood toothpick and the others were the standard Australian 300% uplift on the straight import price...
@ Chris - That guitar in my avatar. Wish it was mine, but no... Maybe one day. To get a better impression of mine, you'd need to imagine bad 1980's mahogany laminex kitchen cupboards, halve the thickness and you'd be getting close. Maybe then empty a tissue box and string some rubber bands over it if you want to hear the tone...
@ Grizz - MUST HAVE SQUARE NECK NOW! FIRST EMAIL REPLY GETS MY CASH!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Did you e-mail Beard? I live about 2.5 hours from Elderly. They have been my "candy store" for more years than I care to say. Matter of fact I just got their list of new arrivals. Going to check it out now.

Yep - I've emailed them and most of the rest of the known resonator universe. All good. Apparently there's this thing called "pay-shents" or something. My wife was trying to explain to me earlier... No idea what the crazy woman was on about...

@Qwerty ..yea I had the same problem here,, last time I was in Auckland , went into the Rockshop one afternoon , bored and felt like a play, they only had a one cheapo Reso, I picked it up and first strum , realised it was the same D6 tuning I put on it a year earlier when I last played it
@Mike ,, yea I might see if I can trade up at the PD stand at IBMA ...stike a deal , plead ignorance ,, :-)

That's funny and sad, all at the same time. What these instruments can do in educated hands is just astounding - and genre defying. I can't believe there is so little recognition/understanding/whatever here... Or maybe I've just hung around hard-rock, singer/songrwriter circles for too long...

Ok here we go. Here is the link to Howard Parker from Beard. He is a member here. Send him an PM and tell him to get off his a$$ and help you. resohangout.com/myhangout/home.asp?id=3099 Beard is also a member but I don't know if it's Howard or Chet that takes care of it but here is the link for them resohangout.com/myhangout/home.asp?id=3057 If they don't take care of you let me know and I will call Stan at Elderlys and rattle their cage. This is ridiculous. No excuse.

Someone's channeling their avatar, methinks :)
All good mate :) I only mailed them on the weekend and Monday isn't long into existence in USA-land... But thanks for the links! I'll see what appears in my inbox in the morning, (must sleep soon)... Seriously though - thanks for the offer.

OK - got in touch with Howard and also with Elderly. Now I just need to decide the fine line between divorce and guitar heaven... Solid or laminate mahogany... Choices, choices...

Solid. There, no worries mate. I made the decision for you.
