Sorry guys, I just found the posts???!!! Thanks for the welcome. I'm into the Wiessie now, and love it! Actually I haven't picked up the Tricone since I got the Weissenborn -too heavy! Will play it if I need some volume!! (Liz, it's a Recording King)

Ah, yes, another member of the "I can't believe this sound" club. What are you working on, Karen?

Got Troy's lesson on "O Christmas Tree" and it's slow going. I've gotten a pretty good version of Silent Night down fairly well. How about you guys...what are you working on.

I'm crawling through Cindy Cashdollar's Oh Susannah in Open D tuning on the Weissie and Greg Booth's Somewhere Over the Rainbow on dobro. Am using Transcribe! to slow down and loop the videos. Works well for hearing and learning nuance. Slower than using tab, but better results for me.

You inspire me. I always plan to learn Christmas songs in the fall, but get put off by the work required for a song with a limited shelf-life. I admire you for learning 2! Maybe I'll revise my Grinch-like approach to this....

I've been going to jams (with my banjo) for a while and knew we'd need Christmas songs so once I was learning them on the banjo, it wasn't much of a stretch to give them a go on the dobro. The banjo ones are far better than the dobro, so far.

You inspired me to pull out "Dobro Christmas" by Steve Toth and see if I can come up with something acceptable by Christmas. I think I can do a spontaneous mini-concert by then. It's helps that once people start singing, they don't much care what you play !
