Bear Creek MK+ build pictures

From Liz Williams on 12/3/2011 11:52:02 AM

Bill Hardin sent me pictures of my MK Weissenborn-in-progress last night and I posted them to my profile photo album.

I'm so excited i can hardly stand it.  The guitar could ship as early as next week.  It's all koa, including the fingerboard, with a rosewood bridge and fret markers.  It will have rope binding and modernized style 4 position markers (hence MK+).  Did I mention how excited I am?

Having a custom built instrument shipped is a really special experience. You are entitled to be excited - have fun!

Very nice indeed. Santa must have bypassed me again, and I'm closer to the North Pole up here in ON. than the SF Bay area in CA.
Congratulations are in order Liz.

Jimbob, have you been naughty, or nice? ;-) I'm just saying'... Thanks for the comment: It does feel like Christmas.

Santa sent me some more pictures from his chilly North Pole workshop. It's looking more like a guitar now...and I feel more anticipation than I imagined! If there were a tree and I could sneak down and unwrap a package, just to take a peek....

Very nice looking guitar. One day I'll graduate to a handmade weissenborn. :)

It's interesting that the finish is applied before gluing the bridge and the fretboard, I'd think that gluing would need to be done first. But what do I know, I'm not a luthier. :)

Thanks for looking. I am amazed that someone can create something this gorgeous. I bet that right this very minute there is a passionate discussion on some luthier forum about whether to glue first or apply the finish first!
