Dutch, welcome to the Wessie group. Tell us a little about yourself and what you are playing. No need to be shy here, you're among friends.

Thanks for the welcome Grizz & Liz !
Hmmmm, a little about me. Well, I've played guitar for about 50 years (wow that sounds old). Started clawhammer banjo about 5 years ago.Have had some progressive issues with my hands (including an injury) that has made playing very difficult.
Have always enjoyed listening to lap slide guitar (started with listening to early Jackson Browne with David L.). So I decided to give it a try. Bought a Gold Tone Wessie and have been trying to get comfortable with it.
Been immersing myself with slide music to get a feel for which style would fit my tastes. I think this might work.
I'm not a big Forum guy but I've been reading this one for a few months and you folks seem really helpful. Looking forward to joining the conversations.

Hi Ken - I've got a left hand injury (focal dystonia - my fingers do not obey) and a Gold Tone too. I think there are several people on the forum who came to slide after an injury. Some use modified bars. I like the Shubb GS-1, with the little handle.

I was happy I lived alone for the first few months I played. It really didn't resemble music. It comes though. Now I can play a few tunes and people recognize them and don't wince. Progress!

You can ask about anything here: someone here has either confronted that themselves or know a guy, who knows a guy. :-)

Hey Ken, you're in good company. There are a LOT of people here with issues that prevent them from playing guitar, banjo etc. You certainly picked ones close to my heart with Jackson and David. Anything you need or want to know is available somewhere by someone on this site. These are the nicest most caring people you can find on ANY site. I have been on computers since 1965, trust me on this. I hope you enjoy yourself.

Thanks again Liz & Grizz. Yes, I noticed from reading various blogs that some have come to the instrument via injuries. I think that's one of the things that prompted me to join this forum.
I was also very inspired when I stumbled onto Tom Doughty's site. There's a man who has overcome some issues. But I like his music for its content. Very sensitive artist.
Well I'll surely post again when I have questions or something to contribute. And maybe just to say "hi".
Glad to find that this site exists. Take care.

Tom should be an inspiration to everyone. What a player, what a man.
