Came across some YouTube videos of Jackson Browne and Lindley playing acoustic at the 2006 Phila. Folk Festival. One video was the entire performance, almost 2 hrs. What caught my attention was Lindley using a squareneck guitar for his slide playing and not the Weissenborn. With his setup though, it pretty much still sounded like Mr. Dave. Get out your old Oahu guitars!

Though my Oahu isn't the best, it does have its own personality, especially in the low end. Some of the better known builders nowadays, Beard, Harper to name a couple, saw the interest in these old squarenecks and have produced their own. I've often taken my Guild dreadnaught and played it lap style - not too bad despite the lighter string gauges. Jack
	Grizz says: 4/28/2012 4:52:35 PM I love my Oahu's. The two parlor guitars are Mama Bears, the Bronson parlor guitar is mine. Then i have the 65M and the 71K. If your not familiar with the history, Harry Stanley and George Bronson were step brothers that started the Honolulu Conservatory of Music here in Flint Michigan in the late 20's. No one knows why but they parted ways and Harry went to Cleveland and started Oahu and George went to Detroit and opened Bronson. A lot of the instruments are almost identical up to and including the Honolulu Master and the Oahu Deluxe which are the ones missing from my collection simply because they are quite rare to see up for sale and they are getting $3500 for them. BTW I have a Samick LW-213 that i converted to lap style that sounds better then it ever did as a Spanish Style guitar. I put John Pearse 3160's on it originally and now it has Newtone Aloha strings and i tune it to open D.
