Weissie - Slide Tab Repository and Chords/Scales

From CaseyHunter on 9/20/2012 12:11:50 PM

Does anyone have any other resources related to  Weissie appropriate tunings, such as tab, lessons, chords, theory, scales, etc.   I would love to have a master repository, since it seems like slide music is few and far between.

Here are the ones I know of:

Resohangout:

It has a a few open D and open C tabs.

Rob Anderlik:

Instructional Vids and some tabs

Lessons with Troy:

Definitely a few gems in here that sound pretty dang good on a weissie.  There was a rumor floating around that he may make some weissie specific vids in the future...all conjecture at this point but would be nice.  He has a great style of teaching.

Open D Chord Charts:

These make more sense for a round neck player, but, they are helping me get a little better knowledge of my open d chord library.   I really wish I could find one that was specific to a player using a slide.

Scalerator

Awesome scale generator for any tuning and scale type. It does a great job,  just wish I was smart enough to know how/when to use the scales. lol

Mugglinworks:

This is all basic music theory that is helping me out a ton.

Ben Harper Tab:

Has some of the slide songs tabbed out, pretty good if you like Ben and know the album/song.

I know I have found a few more out there, just don't seem to find them in my favorites.

Let me know if you have anything else.  I would love more of the slide/technique and slide theory stuff.

Thanks,

Casey

I don't have any more to add, just want to say thanks for putting all those resources available in one message, lots of good stuff there.

Thank you Casey. You are certainly better organised than I am. As Jim B. it is nice to have all these in the one message. I will now make a folder and file them away. jimbob

Thanks, Casey. I don't have any to add either, and I do with someone would put together an open D chord chart for steelers. Someone that isn't me. :-)

Liz, did you know that Troy has lesson that covers over 100 chords in Open D Tuning and they are all documented over three pages of tab? See here: lessonswithtroy.com/dobro_less...OBRO.html

Thanks for the resources Casey. Another site to add to the list is drewdotcom.com, it includes some tab: drewdotcom.com/hollowneck/tabs...html#tabs - as well as tips on bar technique, picking and blocking, tunings, melody, intonation, timing and some information on chords: drewdotcom.com/hollowneck/tips...tion.html

Matt, I hadn't seen your addition to this thread. I've gotta gets Troy's 100 chord lesson. Thank you for that and for drewdotcom - that's a new one.

May as well put this here too: There are 2 pieces of software for slowing down video and/or audio without changing the pitch. I use Transcribe (for mac or windows), and Amazing slow downer for windows only.
