During Rudy Dopyera's tenure with Weissenborn Co. Ltd. in 1926, a few guitars had serial numbers staked into the end of the headstock. Most of these were teardrop models in a 740 serial number range. This Style 1 on eBay has a number, but the seller doesn't show it well and doesn't tell us what it is. However, the S/N adds little to the value of this instrument, which has a badly marred top. Normally, i.e,. sans S/N, this would be about a $2000 guitar in this condition. The seller is asking nearly $16,000, but he is taking offers. If you wish to make him an offer, decide for yourself what that S/N is worth to you.

	Tom_Noe says: 1/18/2013 9:58:12 AM I asked him what the serial number is, and he wouldn't tell me. I also notice that this guitar has Phillips-head screws to attach the tuners, a sign of replaced tuners. Phillips-head screws were not around in Weissenborn's time.

	Gitman44 says: 1/19/2013 8:03:02 AM The tuner ferrules are definitely not original. They're way too small. Zoom in on picture #2 on the lsting and look at the first string. Looks like they're about a 1/16th of an inch too small. Also several of the phillips-head screw heads holding the tuners in are pretty well stripped, like they forced the screws in rather than pre-drilling the holes. The face of the guitar looks like someone had put on a pickguard at one time, then pulled it off and messed up the finish. What would possess someone to ask so much for this guitar? And to top it off, they want $200.00 for shipping. :-) I'll pass..
