Rick Alexander Non-Pedal Sessions - Live Streaming

From Bob Blair on 2/18/2013 4:00:12 PM

I'm very pleased to be one of the performers in the non-pedal sessions at the Texas Steel Guitar Association Annual Jamboree next month.  The attached link explains how you can have access to live streaming of this event.  The schedule has not yet been created.  I'll be performing on a Benoit Cajunborne, and possibly reso as well.  There is a broad range of non-pedal steel music over the course of this event (March 8 and 9) by some truly great players.

This is fantastic, Bob. I'm looking forward to your set.

I am as well - my brother Rick from Toronto is going to be there and will play with me - bass or guitar as the situation demands.

There are some amazing players and great people who are involved in this event.

Of course some of the very best pedal steel players in the business will be playing in the main ballroom, and the whole hotel is taken up by steel players. Carroll Benoit will have his beautiful instruments on display (I'll be performing in the Benoit Room also) and if anyone is thinking about coming over the the pedal steel side of the world most of the major builders will have their stuff there to try out. So anyone who can make it to the Sheraton DFW North that weekend should do it - it is a major hoot. Sheraton is, I gather, full, but there is an official overflow hotel and the strip is lousy with chain hotels.

I know where Toronto and Edmonton are but where is Texas, HaHa!!
Sheraton DallasFortWorth North must be just south of Denali AK.

Which I can see from my backyard...:-)

Ha! I dunno where it is Jimbob - one airport strip looks much like another. If you hear 1700 steel guitars all whining at the same time you're there. Good to know that Liz is keeping an eye on Alaska for us - somebody has to.

Hello Bob and Liz,
The biggest thrill of my life was playing for the lady serving coffee in the nice restaurant in downtown Chicken. AK.
"1942-1992." 50th anniversary of the building of the Alaska Highway. The place was packed, all five of us. Gigglegiggle.

jimbob, I had no idea there was such a place as Chicken, AK. That's quite a story! I bet you've got plenty more of them too. I saw Denali and flashed on William Shatner's dramatic reading of a Sarah Palin speech on the Conan O'Brien show which reminded me of Tina Fey's skewering of Palin, especially the line about how Palin could see Russia from her backyard. All that form Denali AK.

Note to self: Do not free associate and type.

Ah, I correctly interpreted your veiled reference Liz.

Well done, Bob! Glad someone can follow my twisted logic.

I'm back. I was doing husbandly duties. The dishes.
Golly gee we three can see beyond the tree.
