Hi everyone,
After playing "slide" guitar for a little over a year Bob Blair mentioned this group to me - who knew there were 79 people that cared this much about Weissenborns??? When I tell people I play Weissenborn guitar they usually respond "What the @#$ is a weissenborn, then when they see it or hear it they usually say - that is awesome! I am fairly new to slide guitar - I moved to Texas about 4 years ago and ended up living next to a great guitar builder named Carroll Benoit. After seeing his guitars, I thought, I've got to try one of these things and have been hooked ever since. I started out playing the weissenborn and then moved to the resonator guitar. I have four guitars made by Carroll (weissenborn, two resonators, and a lap steel) and wish I had 24 hours a day to play. Carroll makes beautiful guitars that sound wonderful and I highly encourage anyone to check his work out. None of them are perfect, just set the phone up and play - mistakes and all. I have been mainly focusing on lessons for the resonator from Jimmy Heffernan's site and would highly recommend them. He also has some open D tuning lessons that lay out nicely on the weissenborn.
