Hi everyone,

I play slide guitar for 3 years now.
It’s not very original for my generation, but when I was a teenage boy, I saw Ben Harper playing weissenborn. I just thought «Wow, what the hell is this instrument and this incredible sound!!»
I started playing guitar 6 years ago. Til then the idea has grown up in my mind. I joined the french forum «slide et resonateur» which was a true gold mine to learn more about these wonderful instrument. I started sliding on my folk with my fingers. Then i bought a Goldtone weissenborn (and a Tone Bar !!!) . But if i had to do it again, I’ll definetely choose a little Oahu squareneck instead of a chinese copy. The idea to build a lapsteel came quiclky (you can see it there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRp2nB2Tblo).
As i was more and more interested in Herman Weissenborn’s work, i jumped at all the chances to try original’s Weissenborn, Knutsen, Kona and other stunning reproductions like Tony’s ones.
During a trip in Madrid, I met Caesar (Weissenborn.es) who offered me Tom’s incredible book «From harp guitars to the new hawaiian family. Chris J Knutsen».
I was mader and mader about playing on my own Weissenborn. I got married in 2011. My wife and I wanted as wedding presents beautiful instruments for this red-letter day. She chose a really nice cello and of course I chose a wonderful original style I.

Recently, I contacted Tom on facebook and he told me about the group.
Deep inside me I hope that one day my wife and I (she’s a translator) will have the time to translate Tom’s book to french!!

In a word, I’m really fascinated by this instrument. I do feel Weissenborn leads to experimentation. The instrument itself, and more than any other guitar, is rich and complex. When I have this 90-year-old-lady on my laps, I feel I have to be in pursuit of something!! I’m a terrible singer and I guess the slide fills this gap.

I’m really glad to meet other people who are passionate about Weissenborn!!
