Welcome to the group, Michael. I got quite lost in your You Tube videos just now. I'd never heard of some of the instruments you play and build (epinette, kantele and langspil). Please tell us about how you came to the Weissenborn and anything else you'd like to share.

I have been very much drawn to the sound of the Weissenborn, I have always liked the sound of open strings and drone/pedal notes and I have played and made other lap instruments for 20 years but this is a new direction for me. I am at the orientation stage still, learning all I can about the history of the instrument, its construction, the effects different wood combinations, tunings and players. I will be making several of these fabulous instruments in the new year.

I see that you live not too far from my good friend Kevin Brown (mykevinbrown.com), who among many other things has done some fantastic work on weissenborn style guitars. . I'm hoping to see Kevin again at the Texas Steel Guitar Association jamboree in March.
