Hello Players,
I play pedal steel, lap steel and resonator and now Weissenborn, wait and sometimes a regular guitar. Almost five years ago I was in a coma for five days and brain dead for eleven days, I owe my recovery to my music.
By no means am I an accomplished player, I play for the joy that it brings me.
When I first heard the Weissenborn I new it was an instrument that would play a role in my future. I can listen to this instrument for hours. I have dropped the tuning on my resonator and have been playing that and have bought an import Weissenborn to work with.
All my other instruments are top of the line so another purchase is in my future, after I recover from this current period of financial embarrassment.
I am fairly active on the Steel Guitar forum and I am looking forward to this forum.

Wow, hard to top that story. I've been playing steel guitar in one form or another for about 12 years. I've played dobro, lap steel, pedal steel and weissenborn. Currently have an Asher lap steel and I have a Brauchli coming tomorrow. I've been playing guitar for 45 years and I also play trumpet and flugelhorn. Good to see this group.

Is your Asher lap steel acoustic or electric?

Electric. It isn't a standard model. I believe it was the prototype for the Ben Harper I model. But it has the weissenborny sound.

Sorry to have missed your bear creek. I saw your post about the MA 6. I've actually had 2 MA6's and an MA 8 picked out by Mike himself and stupidly sold them. Wish I had those back.

I'm sorry too, Bill. That's a big ouch about the MA6s and MA8. I bet it's like a kick in the gut now he's gone.
My frame drum teacher, Layne Redmond, died on Monday, and I just got back a tambourine she'd picked out for me many years ago. I'd loaned it out a couple years ago but now I want it here with me.

I guess I will never out grow it but I am all excited about my Weissenborn being shipped. It will be here for the weekend so I know what I will be doing.
Are there any Weissenborn groups in the San Francisco Bay Area? I was hoping there might be it would be fun to meet some other players.

It is exciting to get a new instrument at any age, and this is the place to share that excitement. Let us know what you're getting and how you like it, Neils.
I'm in the SF Bay Area, and am a Weissenborn beginner. There aren't any groups that I know of here. Maybe we should start one.

Santa Cruz comes to mind as a place to meet up sometime this spring. Let's keep it in mind. That is a great advantage of the Weiss is it's ease of transport and amps not needed.
