The main problem I had with the weissie was a lack of music and teaching materials which is still probably the case except for a couple by Troy. Then there is what to buy - not too interested in buying the expensive ones that I had previously. The Anderwood and Wishnevsky are both good sounding and decently priced. How is your Wishnevsky doing, Liz? So right now, I'm trying to decide on a dobro or weissie although I like the sound of the weissie better.
	Liz Williams says: 11/15/2013 11:48:15 AM Welcome back to the fold, Fred. it's a good time to be in the market for a Weissenborn. There are more and better choices at the middle and low end of the price spectrum these days. Bad news about the Wishnevsky, Fred. I can't recommend it. It sounded OK for my first month when I was learning to play, and then its limited tone and dynamics really got to me. I took a dremel to the bridge and scalloped it on both sides of the saddle area, much like a parlor guitar bridge. That freed up the tone quite a bit. Unfortunately, I then tried to remove the bridge and replace it with something smaller. Turns out the bridge was the only thing bracing the top. A budding luthier pal of mine and I ended up doing a complete autopsy on it, learning a lot about Steve's idiosyncratic Weissenborn construction. It ended up in the dumpster. For about the same money, I much prefer my old Oahu mahogany jumbo body. It doesn't get very loud either, but it has killer tone. Although it's in a different price range, I've ended up with a deep body, all-mahogany Weissenborn made by Larry Pogreba. I'm just mad about it. Those Anderwood's sound pretty good to my ears too. Some of our members have liked Folk of the Woods Weissenborns as well. Let us know what you end up with.
