TSGA Jamboree - March 13-16 2014

From Bob Blair on 1/30/2014 5:00:30 AM

The Texas Steel Guitar Association Jamboree is a great event, and I heartily recommend it to any of you in the Dallas -Forth Worth area, or who might be up for a road trip (the show is at the Sheraton DFW so very convenient for anyone flying in).  One of the highlights is the Rick Alexander Non-Pedal Room featuring two full days of non-pedal steel performances.  With help from my brother Rick and perhaps others I will be performing there, likely on a Benoit Cajunborne and perhaps another weissenborn-style instrument.  I will also be playing in the Benoit display room.  Beard Guitars will also be there (likely with Howard Parker officiating), so between those two vendors there will be a spectacular array of resonator instruments, and I have it on good authority that Carroll Benoit will have a Cajunborne on display.  GeorgeBoards will also have a booth, and perhaps they will have a weiss-style instrument or two.  This is hands down one of the best and most diverse steel guitar events anywhere, and there is truly something for everyone.  Feel free to contact me with any questions - not as a representative of the TSGA because I'm not, but I'm kind of an old hand at this event and can fill you in on what to expect.  Here is a link to the TSGA website with some info:  http://www.texassteelguitar.org/jam.html

Thanks, Bob. I so wanted to be here this year, as it sounds like steel guitar heaven. Taking my niece to NYC for her senior-year spring break instead. I'm looking forward to your pictures and videos. Speaking of videos, didn't someone live stream the non-pedal room last year? Might they do it again this year?

Howard, who did the streaming, is unable to come this year. Stephen Cowell has kindly volunteered to do some videoing but streaming is not going to be possible. To bad your official "cool aunt" duties (which obviously take precedence) conflict with the date.

Jeff Strouse has posted some information on the Rick Alexander Non-Pedal Sessions on the Steel Guitar Forum: bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewto...?t=258638

That sounds like a great line-up. Nice to see that the brothers Blair will be there again.
