Hi, my first time on this site had the account for a while, I've been trying to learn how to play guitar, it must be going on 18 months now, and built some speed playing minor chords, major chords (barr chords) are just to difficult to play as i have small hands short un flexible fingers. So when trying to bridge the gap from beginer to intermediate the first lesson always is barr chords this being my sticking point. I was looking atlessons on YouTube and i happened to come across Matt Smith playing is resornator guitar and i got hooked. So i listened to lots of swampy sounds from different guitars and picked up a gretsch alligator. I unpacked it and tuned it to open D couldn't wait to try it out. Was alittle disappointed with the sound. There was an annoying vibration on string 6 i tryed changing the strings but it wasent much better after time i learnt how to mute the string before you play it. Also after time it seemed right it's self . I new that chords where in aline but still found it difficult to find instuction i had no knowledge of finding notes in open d. Was wondering if other tunings might be better for a beginner
