I have just bought a handmade square neck resonator that was made in Eldora, Iowa by a man named Ken Johnson in 1984. He passed away in 2003 and my understanding is that he made many different stringed instruments, mostly violins.
He used walnut for the top and back and mahogany for the sides. The inlay work is outstanding and all over this instrument. It has Grover tuners on it and what appears to be a home made pick up and volume knob on the top although it seems very weak. Over all this is in excellent condition and although I am sure it could use a new cone the sound is lovely.
If anyone knows of this Luther from Iowa or could comment on this instrument I would appreciate it.
