I've play guitar since college. My course required a 2 hour music class so I took guitar. I was living with two guys who could play and I wanted to learn - so the class was perfect for me. Fast forward to 5 years ago when I took up the mandolin. I was greatly influenced by my wife's uncle who plays the best mountain mando you ever heard. Then two years ago I had an accident that crippled my left hand. The mandolin came back slowly but I couldn't get my hand around the guitar well enough to play. A friend had a dobro he never played and offered it to me. I've been in love since. The chord and theory knowledge from the guitar and mandolin have helped. Also, the finger rolls I learned in that two hour class 30+ years ago have come back nicely.
