I am happy that I can combine my passion for wood and skillfull work in my profession as a full time luthier. When I studied plucked instrument making between 2000 - 2004 I first dedicated mainly to classical and flamenco guitars. As in Germany there is lack of information about slided instruments and the way they are played, i got most of my information from the web and inspecting original instruments. Since 2006 I am building weissenborns. To learn more about the old instruments and the way they are played I bougth a Knutsen recently and a second one last month which I will restore. I have another Hilo which is sounding great as well and which I partly restored. As Hawaii and Koa wood is so far away from Germayn I am using local woods as well for my onw instruments. Such as plum, apple, pear and others more which are available in my Frankonian region of Germany. Most i use alpine spruce tops for my instruments which comes from an FSC certificated company in Switzerland. best regards Michael I love playing the instruments and I not doing bad. But there is much to learn still. best regards Michael
