Piano lessons as a kid, and Trumpet and French Horn in Jr. high, but I never really made a personal connection with music until I started playing blues and ragtime guitar around 1974. I had heard and liked pedal steel, but when I heard Buddy Emmons' version of "Wichita Lineman" on the Suite Steel LP, it was all over! I bought my first pedal steel and joined my first band that same day. It was a case of "learn to play or get fired", so I spent a lot of time in the woodshed! Going on 35 years and 300 bands later, I'm still in love with the steel guitar, and all things slidy. The musician's life has been a real adventure- I've played in 48 states and 25 countries, and met some of the sweetest, craziest, most interesting people on the planet. Along the way, I've added guitar, dobro, lap steel, mandolin, bass, and music production and engineering to my bag.
