I came across a really old dobro that has not been treated well.
Its a “grandtone” from the mid ‘30s. One of those with a paper cone.
its pretty much in need of being taken apart and pot back together which I’m going to attempt.
I want to make a basket for it, there isn’t one now, and no evidence of one or posts. I have to take the top and back off. The back is in several pieces and there’s a piece of plywood glued to it.
It looks like the body is birch.
what kind of wood bends well? I’m looking at a couple layers bent around a form..
