I have played in local folk and bluegrass groups off and on since 1972 in western North Carolina, East Tennessee, and Central Virginia. Have written songs and instrumentals over the years and was a Kerrville New Folk Finalist in 2001. Some of my songs are recorded and available online under my name “Stuart Whitford”. I have performed at the Down Home and the Bristol Rhythm & Roots in Tennessee, the Moab Folk Festival, and the Kennedy Center’s Millenium Stage over the years. My current interest is in arranging jazz ballads for dobro using the standard open G tuning to create jazz harmonies and chords in keys such as C minor, Eb minor, and Eb major. I’m hoping to find a few players interested in sharing and developing this small corner of the dobro world.
