Just discovered this site and logged in......Dont know what to expect. Been trying to learn dobro for 7 or 8 years after arthitis in left hand pretty much ended mandolin playing.
Have an original squareneck l977 Dobro....fitted with quarterman cone and replaced bridge inserts myself (not knowing anything about either project.) Love the sound and playability. Nothing would improve volume until finally put on set of D'Addario stainless steel strings. Lots more volume and they last forever.
Dobro playing to me means Josh Graves, Gene Wooten, Mike Auldridge and most of Rob Ickes stuff. Also Brother Oswalds stuff.
Any body know where I can order blueprints for building dobro using sound post construction instead of the circular sound well?
