He has used a good portion of Birch for his resos, but I could tell because of the peghead shape...and the finish, its beautiful!

Ah! Cool! So, how does the headstock shape tell you it's birch? This is the only McKenna I've seen so...I have NO idea!!
I really really like the finish on it. She's got some heft to her but has great tone and sustain!
Also, you appear to know yer stuff...any idea what cone and spider McKenna used? Just curious.

Well I could tell it is a Birch reso by the grain, not the headstock. The headstock shape told me that it is a McKenna. As far as I know, Gregg used Quarterman cones and No.14 spiders, the standard equipment! He also doesn't use any import hardware, which I like. Any other questions, let me know!

Oh, ok. I thought you meant you could tell it was birch by the headstock!! Other folks have asked if it was black walnut, too.
