Well, I haven't really played a lot of resos, but this one has a very nice, bright sound to it. Not quite as rich of tone as a Beard style, but I don't think Scheerhorns are meant to be like that. It has a lot more projection than the Regal I did have. No, I do not use any effects or amps, it is all the guitars work.

As I bought it directly from a music store which does adjustments, it was set up very well. I haven't needed to do anything to it, but I'd imagine it wouldn't be that hard.

I have played a custom built reso which was beautiful, so no, it doesn't compare to that. However, this reso has a nice, red color which has an understated look. Also, the F-style sound holes bring the look together.

I suppose there are better, but it seems very nice to me. It has covered Grover tuners which work very well, and the finish work elsewhere is very nice as well.

Well, i have never contacted Wechter personally, but the actual music shop is great. They are very freindly, and helpful.

I would have to say the tuners. My Regal Black Lightning had open geared tuners, which worked well. These however, are nice covered ones which work very well too.

I traded my Regal Black Lightning in along with the extra cash, but I would have to say it was a great deal. Wechter has been out of the business of making resos for a while, and this was one of the few still for sale. I really like it a lot. The sound is great, it looks great, and it plays great. What more can you ask for?

I play all kinds of acoustic music on my resonator guitars. I bought this from a well known player who supposedly used this particular guitar to win competitions. It is a very nice sounding instrument, loud and bright, with a clear tone. I have no problem taking it to jams and being heard.
If I had any knock on the sound, it's that the bass response is not as "sharp" as on the American handmade instruments. This is something I experience with all lower end dobros, though, and is not specific to this guitar.
This guitar has a more modern sound than the traditional Dobro® sound you'll get from other guitars. It resembles the sound of a hand built Scheerhorn, but doesn't quite have the tonal richness or complexity. Still, it's a great instrument, especially for the price.

The 6510F was set up perfectly when I received it. I played it for about two years before I took it to Resosummit in 2010. While there, I had Tim Scheerhorn upgrade the cone to his latest hand spun cone and do a general setup. His upgrade and setup improved the sound of the instrument, making it even louder and clearer. I would recommend his work without hesitation.

There were no finish flaws in the instrument. I've since managed to put a small ding in one of the upper bouts by dropping a bar on it, but it's very tiny. The finish is well done and the guitar overall looks very good. People remark on the instrument whenever I take it to jams.

The tuners are the weakest link on this instrument. They hold the tuning well enough, but sometimes it feels like they're kind of crusty and make squeaky noises when tuning. I don't find them to be enough of a problem for me to go to the trouble of replacing them.
Everything else has been trouble free.

No experience with the company at all. I never needed to contact them about this instrument.

The guitar is a great deal, with excellent components throughout. The tuners would be the weakest link on my particular instrument, yet they hold the tuning exactly where you want it to be.
I chose to upgrade the cone because I had the opportunity to have Tim Scheerhorn work on the instrument directly. I would have been very happy with the instrument as it was, but his upgraded cone made this a much better sounding instrument.

The Wechter Scheerhorn line is one of the best values in resonator guitars under $1000 (the other being the Goldtone Beard series). It comes down to which type of sound you prefer. If I had gotten a similar deal on a Goldtone Beard, I might have been playing that instead of this. I don't ever regret buying this guitar or wish I had gotten something else.
I have no issues with showing up with this guitar in any jam or session I'm involved in. It's a great sounding instrument and plays very well.
I have no hesitation in recommending this instrument, or indeed any of the Wechter Scheerhorn resonator guitars.
