If you use your Charlie's capo often, you will soon find that the plastic starts to dent and not dampen all the strings, which necessitates replacing the yellow plastic dampening material.

I just bought what seems like a metric ton of Tygon gas line (but it's only 50 feet) that Charlie told me serves as the replacement dampener on his capo.

Here's the offer: for the first 10 people who post that they're interested on this thread, I will send you a foot-long piece of the Tygon gas line so when the time comes you will be ready to make the switch. It's easy: just slide off the old pieces, cut two new ones, and slide 'em on.

After you post here, PM me your mailing address. I'll send packages out in the next few weeks.

Terms and Conditions: Offer valid until May 30, 2018. Recipient agrees to indemnify me and hold me harmless from any damages that may result as a direct or indirect consequence of using the materials provided in this free offer.

The replies are starting to come in. Just a clarifying note: Thanks for the payment offers, but I will pay the postage on the shipments...just part of my investment in Karma...angel

If Dane has promised it all out you can get about anything from McMaster-Carr. They will for sure have it.

Hi Dane,

That’s very generous of you. If you have any left, I will take a piece of Tygon. Either way, thank you for making the offer to this community.

I've owned the Paul Beard capo (newer design) for many years and use it regularly & have never had to replace the tubing. Anybody know what that material is made of?

When Dane runs out of his supply of Tygon, it's available at many hobby shops (gas line for radio-controlled vehicle engines). Also looks like you can get it on Amazon and eBay.  Like about everything else...

If a dozen or two people buy 50 feet of Tygon and distribute it to the reso community like Dane, I believe every Charlie's capo (and maybe a few Bradleys too) will be well padded for years to come!

I use NG (Nasal Gastric tubing) from a local medical supply place for my Bradley capo. They sell it in whatever length one desires.
Tygon is like NG tubing but more hypo allergenic for folks with latex sensitivities. I used to deliver oxygen and medical equipment all over S.W. Michigan in a former life and distributed Tygon tubing to customers as needed. When I worked in purchasing at the hospital, I would acquire Tygon tubing as needed too. It is a bit more expensive than NG tubing but when you are talking capos, it's marginal.

I suppose in a pinch you could rotate the tubing to gain a new tube surface.

Already did that several times...the grooves were all the way around the tubing.

I'm too late for the offer, but just the same, thanks Oboe Cadobro, for a very kind gesture. This is still a great reference to have if my Charlie's ever reaches the point of needing a retread. Good karma on ya.

Hey you'll. The Tygon gas line was the only tubing I could find locally when I started making the Slide Pro. I have no idea if there is something else that would be better or would last longer. I've only had maybe 8 people out of over 1500 who have contacted me wanting to know how to get the tubing. I know some people have told me that their tubing is still good after 2 or 3 years. A few people couldn't get but a couple of months out of it. About a year ago I started putting a card in the box with instructions on how to set the wedge adjuster. With the adjuster to tight it will prematurely wear out the tubing. You just want to press the wedge adjuster in about 1/8 inch more after you feel the capo and strings get snug.
