Has anyone played the song Send in the Clowns ? This tune sounds great in either the G tuning or the D tuning. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

Not on Dobro, but I have played the solo on English Horn in the symphony quite a few times...
In a rush so don't have time to pinpoint the time mark but the entire album is wonderful.
I haven't checked to see if the video below is the same one as Howard's, but if I did this correctly the piece is the last track which is just past the 28:00 mark.
Sounds to me like the guy who uploaded it recorded it from vinyl, but maybe his belt drive turntable was getting ready for a new belt and there is a sort of wavering to the sound. But you get the idea.
Okay, I went back and checked - I have it set to where you catch the tail end of the prior track, Clowns begins at 28:24

....sounds like Mike and Jeff played it in the Key of E.
Many thanks for posting this rendition of this song. I played it in both the keys of G and D and found that in the key of D (Weisenborn tuning) , it came off as very soulful because of the dropped D .. A wonderful tune to learn and I hope there are other reso players who will try to do this tune. All comments are welcome and the fact that Mike and Jeff did such a credible job is a tribute to their talent. I played this tune in a large church back in the day after hearing it on a Hal Rugg album and the audience was enthralled. I urge you our there to give it a try.

Damn, I hate when covers are in a different time signature than the original...kind makes me cringe when I listen to it...
BTW, is that a cigarette in MA's hand? Doesn't look like it could be anything else...

Mike had a cigarette in his hands quite often. I have an album of his when he was young holding a cigarette on the album cover !
Mike was a smoker in his younger years.
So was I ,Quit 10 years ago
