I just got an I phone and it came with the app for GarageBand. I know nothing about this app and am wondering if it could be used to play a simple backing track for practicing. I’m guessing that I would have to purchase something more than what came with the phone.

Does anyone have experience they can share? Thanks

I think it's more of a recording program. I use Audacity, but I assume this is similar in that you could at least upload songs, and change the pitch or tempo to facilitate playing along.

GB is for recording and mixing, like Logic Pro or Pro Tools. It's pretty limited on the iPhone. You could definitely use if to record backing tracks. You could play them back in GB or export to iTunes.

There is also an autoplay feature in the guitar mode that will play chords that you choose. You can set your key and play through your chord progression and then go back and loop it to practice over, easily changing tempos as needed.

Thanks, Chuck! That's a great idea. Serves me right for never paying attention to the software instruments.

Thanks Chuck. I’ll try that.

I use it to record what I am practicing with my I pad. Haven’t tried a lot of the other features other than what Chuck mentioned. I missed the day that the other options were demoed. Hope you are feeling better, being under the weather always seems worse in the summer.
