Hello All, my name is Dean and I just joined your site. I am looking for some folks to help steer me in my shopping. I've been playing guitar for about a year practicing daily - hours at a time. I am studying the Blues with Electric Guitars and have found a passion for the Blues Music in the process. I am becoming interested in purchasing an electric resonator guitar. I am more interested in spending money on Quality rather than low cost value. The models I have been looking at are the Beard Resoluxe, National Resolectric and the National Pioneer. Any suggestions you might have on other models I should consider or ones I should avoid will be appreciated.

PS: I don't think I'm insterested in squarenecks.

Cheers!

Hi Dean:

You can't go wrong with either Beard or National. I'd like to suggest a third option. Tom Chatsworth in Chatsworth CA (in your neck of the woods too!) is a custom builder of electric blues guitars and is well within your price range. He builds mostly lap steel and cigar box guitars but he just came out with a bottleneck slide guitar. His guitars ooze with tone. I own one of his custom built guitars. Check out this Youtube clip: youtube.com/watch?v=jWAXQ2XdHs8

Take a drive over to his shop. You'll love it. In addition, he is a great guy and easy to work with.

I forgot to mention that he does build electric resonators although his website does not show it.

That's awesome.  I am for sure going to check him and his shop out.  Thank you for the suggestion!

Oh man, i played a National Pioneer at Gryphon and was knocked out by it! I was just in to hang out but if i was shopping it would have been a serious contender. If you find yourself up in the Bay Area, go check that store out, lot's of sweet National's.
