I am getting a count of people who would be interested in attending a dobro workshop at the Alabama Folk School on April 2-5. I will be teaching this intermediate level workshop and covering a number of topics including:

  • Tunings
  • Scales
  • Rolls
  • Slants
  • Intros and fills
  • Rhythm and chops
  • Constructing a break
  • Practice drills

We will be working on a number fiddle tunes and tablature will be provided. I try and contour my workshops to fit the needs of the students that attend so if there are specific things you would like to work on you can send me a list of those topics and I'll be sure and work them in.

Please reply to this thread if you or someone you know would be interested in attending this workshop. You can find out more about the camp facilities at http://www.alfolkschool.com/workshops. If you would like information about me or my experience you can contact me directly at raalocklear@gmail.com, check out my profile page, or search for Roman Locklear on YouTube.

I hope we can get a big sign-up! This is one camp I always look forward to every year. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Thanks,

Roman

Might get more of a response if you posted a price for the workshop.

For pricing of tuition, meals and lodging, click the link below. This would be a 4-day workshop.

Roman I am very interested in this workshop. I looked over the info on the Alabama Folk School web site but did not find this class offered so it is not clear about tuition costs for this particular class. Also wondering if there will be ample times and opportunities for jamming and socializing with campers from other classes.

I would be interested if it were not so far away. Can't make the trip now.

The website has been updated with a link to the dobro workshop registration. Below is a link.

There will be plenty of nightly jams with different groups at different levels so no one is left out. We will cover a lot of material in class but there will be plenty of time for questions and working through anything you would like to focus on. Plus there's not many workshops where you get to sit around and jam with Ned Luberecki, Steve Mougin, and Becky Buller.. :P ... so go ahead and sign up before the class fills!
