Hey all!

I’ve been talking to Tim for a couple of days now and in one conversation, he mentioned that he believed there was a recording of his band, Overdrive, that was made not long after he had returned to Michigan. I searched it out on YouTube and I thought the video was really well produced and gave a window into the man, the myth and the legend that we often don’t think of when we think about Tim. While his influence on the resophonic guitar and music Is indelibly cemented in history, it’s easy to forget that before he was the preeminent builder of resonators, he was (and still is) a player! One thing that I remember Tim telling me in his shop in Dixon was reiterated in this video clip: he said “I wanted to build something I couldn’t buy.” Maybe it’s because it’s Thanksgiving and with COVID and health issues facing my family, I’m more reflective and mindful of giving thanks and counting my blessings today, but, included in them would have to be a sense of gratitude to Tim Scheerhorn for his incalculable contributions not only to resophonic guitars, but to the music we all love. He has touched so many facets of things that bring true joy into my life. In my conversations with him, I mentioned that some of my favorite recordings of my dobro heroes are the ones where they had one of his guitars in their hands. That being said, if this link has been posted before, sorry for the redundancy, but here’s the Overdrive Reunion video that really showcases some exceptionally talented musicians - including our beloved Mr. Timothy Scheehorn playing one of his own creations. It’s pretty cool to realize that the reason these guitars even exist is because he simply wanted something he couldn’t buy so that he could play it himself. BTW, the guitar he’s playing in the video is a Utile guitar and it’s the last one he made before he left Dickson to move back home to Michigan.

Happy Turkey Day friends and stay safe!
