Lately I have seen a lot of interesting banjo tabs, the question is, could they be used
for dobro and if so what would be required to change them.

You can certainly find the notes easily enough using the tablature.
In the standard banjo G tuning the first four strings are tuned the same as the first four on a dobro (top to bottom, D, B, G, D).
The fifth string on the banjo is a high G that you will find at the fifth fret of your first string on a dobro. A lot of the banjo roll patterns and lots of melodic patterns incorporate that high G, which is not going to translate easily.
