I am new here. Trying to identify the year of this Dobro. I just inherited it from my father. The only number I can find is the Paten number 1896484. Any help would be great as I want to insure it for the proper dollar amount

Need some photos. The patent number was used on thousands   of instruments  of the various models.

There is no number stamped onto the tip of the headstock?

If that's the case and it's a pre World War II instrument then it's possibly a Regal-built Dobro from Chicago.

Again - need photos.

Okay - I see you posted a photo on your profile page. We can use more from different angles. Is it a squareneck or a roundneck? Right off it looks to be in very good condition but the photo is a little fuzzy on my screen.

After looking at the one photo, it appears to be a Regal-built Model 37 or possibly 27 from around 1936. A 14 fret guitar, not common, and I'm guessing it is a roundneck rather than a squareneck.

Is there binding on the back? Is the back sort of black or does it have a sunburst?

Hi I believe the back is black. I will have to check when I pick it up. I took it to my repair guy to fix one of the keys it was a little loose to wind and the e string kept hopping over. It is in great shape other than that. I do believe it is square neck but when i get it, I will post more pictures. Not sure how to include picture with the message though

Fireslide, when you are typing a post, look on your screen - you should see below the box where you enter text a blue bar entitled "UPLOAD PHOTOS."

Click on that and you will see that there is an area allowing you to upload three photos in a post. Assuming these are on your phone, click on Choose File and it should take you to the Photo app on your phone. Click on photos you want to share and it will make them appear under your post on the line JPEG File for each photo. Click on Upload Photo and they will be entered into your post.
