Bought a pair of these pliers to shape my pics. Slow and steady will shape you picks making the more comfortable.

Please share a link to the size pliers you purchased.

He posted the pliers on his home page - here they are.

Playlike... (it's time to at least give us your first name - no one is going to type your full "handle") enter your post in Rich Text instead of Plain Text and you can upload photos directly into your post.

And thanks for the tip on the pliers.

Good question. We'll see what size playlikecrazy uses.

The banjo hangout just had a thread about these. The bail pliers subject will come up every so often. Like many people I have trouble getting picks to fit my fingers.

I used to make decorative wire baskets. I used the the bail pliers, as they are intended, to twist the the ends of wires into spirals and such. So we have had these pliers in the toolbox.

I think the trick with the bail wire pliers is the same one we have with the picks fitting in the first place. No one size fits all. We all have different size fingers. Some people need to bend the picks to smaller diameters and some may need to bend them to larger diameters, or a little of both. And of course we might need different diameters for each finger. So the size pliers you need might not be what I'd need.

But one place to start is to buy a set of pliers that have multiple diameters. Pliers with sizes from 3mm to 10mm might be a place to start.

Toothless needle nose pliers can also work. They'll have tapered noses. And they are more generally available than the bail wire type. Most hobby shops will carry them. Look among the jewelry making tools.

Just what I needed to know 3mm to 10mm, thanks Dennis. And thanks to the OP, I wasn't aware such a plier existed.  And yes Mark, I saw the photo.

I went to the jewelry makers outlet and got jewelry pliers. They're like the bail pliers, but taper down to a point.

Yep! Those are what I was trying to describe when I said "toothless needle nose" pliers above. The advantage I find with those is that you get infinite diameters, sort of, along the taper of the jaws.
