My recently purchased Recording King Tricone was in need of new strings and a good clean up. I wanted to remove all the old stringsat once, but didn't want to disturb the cone positions.
I took an old clothes peg and used each wooden finger to gently wedge between the saddle and the palm rest.
It worked perfectly, keeping the cones perfectly positioned in spite of moving the guitar around during polishing.
I'm assuming the type of peg I used is available in the USA, if not then any similar wooden wedge shape would work.

No need.

Remove strings 2-3-4-5 leaving 1 & 6 in place and under tension.

Clean to your hearts content.

Replace strings 2-3-4-5

Remove & replace strings 1 & 6.

Anyway, it's a tricone and the cones cannot really move although, the t-bridge can pop out of a cone if not under tension.

Have fun.

I've done Tony's method when I installed the Hipshot Doubleshot (the wood wedge held the cone with all strings off), and Howard's method frequently when I change strings. Reminds me I need to change strings before ResoGat...blush
