I am a brand new player.(2mos). I am loving it! My goal is to play:
Joy Of My Life by John Fogerty
Those Memories Of You as Sun by Dolly Parton Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris
I don’t know how to read music so I’m learning through free online lessons Peghead Nation and by ear
Could somebody let me know where to find the tablature for the above songs. Thank you.

....good exercise to explore the fretboard and train your ear. Find the notes on either of those songs within the notes of the scales. Shouldn't be too difficult. Just find the key and the chords over which the notes are played.

Hello
Did you ever find a good place to find tabliture sheet music. I've been doing this a month and I really like it but I can't read music and I know nothing about it so for somebody to say it's easy just to figure out. Isn't to somebody that's completely new. Anyhow if you found a good place please let me know thank you good luck

Tracy, I'm not real clear on what you're asking - do you understand how to read tablature?

The term "sheet music" usually implies written formal musical notation. We use "tablature" on its own for songs using that numbered system.

There is a section here on the hangout with quite a bit of tablature available. Along with dozens of other resources nowadays.

Go to the left side of your screen. Under "Learn," look for "tabs" and click on it  - there are over 400 selections. The quality is all over the map. Some are bare bones, others are pretty detailed.

A lot of members post tab requests for certain songs, like for example Fogerty's "Joy of My Life," in the original post, but it it's not part of the established dobro vernacular the odds of finding it are slim and none.  The way I have learned songs like that is to find the chord chart online as a guide and go from there.

Hello
Thank you for responding. I guess I'm so new I don't know the terminology either... sorry for the confusion I'm sure it is me not communicating well.
Any how I can only play the music that says hold this string down on this fret and pick that string..... I'm not sure what to call that type of music?..... I was wondering if there was an app for that. I will check out the learn section In this site. Thank you. I did find some music in here but it was confusing to me I didn't know how to understand It. I'm pretty much one string at a time still. Just trying to pluck out a melody.

Again thank you very much for all your help sorry for my confusion

That is called "tablature."

Here's an example of combination standard notation and tablature from Dobro Joe's website. The bottom row is the tablature: https://dobrojoe.com/king_of_the_road.html

There are quite a few apps for tablature. MuseScore is a free one: https://musescore.org/en

BTW, it would be nice if you updated your profile to show where in the world you are located.

If you want dobro tablature for any song, and the tablature is available, just go to google and search for
dobro tablature King of the Road. (or whatever the name of the song you want happens to be.)

There is an excellent teacher/player in your area, Dobro Joe Wilson. I believe he is near Traverse City.

One on one instruction when you are first starting out is seriously valuable. If you can swing it I would sure enough take some lessons. His website is below and is full of teaching videos.

Since Tracy Miller talks about " hold this string down on that fret " , it begs the question :

Is this a roundneck , played upright , with you fingers fretting the strings ? Or a squareneck . played lap style , using a tone bar ?
