Looking for the model with the gold foil pick ups. Thanks
...not sure if these have the features you're looking for, but there are a couple on the Steel Guitar Forum. I think one is in NorCal, so you might consider....
Thanks for the lead
Well...I've had the original Roadie, and the new one, with gold foils...but really, you can have a custom roadie-style instrument built to your specs...I had mine built with roadie components but also a Lollar string-through, more of a real lap steel sound, for a true dual-sound instrument, not just adding a guitar tone to a dobro....and the price isn't much more than the off-the-shelf roadie....you want to chat with Ben Bonham ?(541) 490-5447 firstname.lastname@example.org bonhamdesign.com
I actually had him build a matched pair of a thinline electric and an acoustic Weissenborn-like reso....maple and redwood and ebony...
By the way, the new roadies don't have the hollow chambers (production cost now too high according to Paul Beard) and are 9.5 lbs!!! Even on your lap that gets pretty unwieldy...plus the switching is just knobs, really hard to change from one pickup to the other, multiple knobs to spin...
