Hello,
I was watching a Byrl Murdock setup video of a 1930’s Regal round necked resonator guitar. This reso is a Rob Ike’s find. What intrigued me was the dimensions of the inserts and the string interface. The lip was almost too thin as compared to the current inserts which are thick. The current ebony/composite lip is as thick as the insert.
The instrument sounded very nice when Rob played it. Also, he used string nut files. Very cool. Byrl uses maple also. Is the lip supposed to be thin now?
